Aim High is Joe’s second solo book. One of the drawbacks of resurrecting the series and adding to it, was the difficulty of kind of shoehorning plotlines in and keeping continuity. The original series had stooped at seven books when our publishing contact with Harper Collins was not renewed, so Bet Your Life was effectively the last book in the series, and was constructed that way. After bringing Eddie back in eBooks many years after first publication, we were faced with slotting new books prior to Bet Your Life. These would show Eddie still in his younger days and the intention was to keep him at the forefront with family very much in the background.
But online reviews of The Third Degree (Book 5) and, more pertinently the follow up, Dead Ringer showed that many readers were annoyed that Eddie’s nephew, Kim had been pushed way into the background: the reality is that there was a gap of almost 20 years between books five and six and Joe did not handle the “joining-up” very well. Anyway, that feedback suggested that many readers would enjoy more involvement of Eddie’s family and finding a way to do that was foremost in Joe’s mind when writing Aim High.
Eddie owes a big favour to Maven Judge, the solitary software genius who helped him out in a previous case. He also owes time to healing family wounds with nephew Kim and sister Marie. And Eddie’s old friend Mac is suddenly sacked from his job in racing security. He too needs Eddie’s help. Eddie sees this as the summer of repayment, but beautiful redhead Nina Raine has plans to kill Eddie’s career for good unless he does what she wants.
Crooked bookie Jordan Ivory also wants Eddie out of the way so that his race-fixing scheme will carry on earning millions. The time has come for Eddie to find out if dependence on his own courage and sense of justice is enough to keep him, and those he loves safe. Is the bravery and willpower of one man enough to defeat the evil plans of many?
We are in the process of making the books available on all platforms – not just Amazon. Once that is complete all the links to those stores will appear here.
